The Opening Chapter – Surah Al-Fatihah

1 In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate,

Most Merciful.

2 All praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.

3 The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful.

4 Master of the Day of Judgement.

5 You Alone we worship, and You Alone we ask for help.

6 Guide us to the straight path;

7 The path of those You have blessed, not the path of those

who incur anger, nor of those who are astray.

The first chapter (surah) in The Quran is called Al-Fatihah, The Opening (سورة الفاتحة). It contains 7 verses which synthesize The Quran.

Of the 114 chapters in The Quran, The Prophet (عليه السلام) has said that this chapter is the greatest.
